Quite a few of our friends, family, followers, and readers have been asking us where we’re going next and if our schedule has changed. As we started our six months in Europe back in June with firm plans only made to the end of August, most of what we had planned for the fall (here on out) was subject to change. That was part of what was so exciting about our full-time travel, and in fact whole regions (like the Balkans, sadly) have dropped from our itinerary in the interest of practicality; as travelers we must always assume we will one day return and those other places will be on our schedule then.
So here’s how the rest of our 2014 looks today:
Through September 10: Ireland. Lori’s sister Susan and her husband Randy joined us a few days ago for our Ireland leg (which wound up replacing much of our originally intended time in Scotland), so we’re enjoying the company of our travel buddies for a little while. Today we’re in Nenagh, Ireland, just outside of Limerick; tomorrow we head south to a little town called Lismore just outside of Cork. Look for our Ireland blogs to start coming soon.
September 10 – September 13: Bologna, Italy.
September 14 – September 23: Montepulciano, Italy.
September 24 – October 7: Bodrum, Turkey. A super-exciting note here: from Saturday to Saturday in the middle of this time in Bodrum, we’re actually taking a sailing gullet cruise of the Aegean out of Bodrum. We’ll be celebrating Lori’s birthday on the 30th by going totally off the grid.
October 8 – October 16: Istanbul, Turkey.
October 17 – October 19: London area, likely Windsor or Oxford.
October 20 – November 13: Nottinghamshire, England
Here’s where it starts getting fuzzy again, but we imagine spending the rest of our time in England: we’d like especially to see the Cotswolds and Bath, and with Christmas setting in, anywhere with a holiday festival is a candidate. We plan to be in Southampton, England on December 13 so we can catch the Queen Mary home on December 15th.
